Home Front – August 2020

We experienced our first typhoon of the season. Initially, the tropical storm was headed close within our vicinity but of no imminent concern. Suddenly it turned and came straight towards us! Typhoon Higos was a No. 10 direct hit and we sure felt it in the wee hours of the morning. Wind and rain in all its fury. Fortunately, Jorge was able to brave the storm and venture outdoors to secure the roofing on the top floor. The storm moved quickly and there was no substantial damage to us personally, just a lot of cleanup from the fallen trees and branches.” The lower areas of Macau suffered from heavy flooding as is per usual in any tropical storm. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”, Psalm 46:1.

Things were flying everywhere. These corregated sheet flew here from afar.

August was a big month for celebration. After Isabel and Joana, on the 2nd and the 3rd day of the month, on the 23rd Jason celebrated 17! He has begun his senior year studies this month, with basketball as his free time pursuit Last, but not least, we finished off the month with Jorge completing his 70th year of life! Ben produced a great video featuring a few of the highlights of his life adventures! All the family was present for the celebration via Skype, and each was able to share some precious memories with dad. We can only give thanks to the Lord for the fact that each of these beloved members of our family are all found to be in good health, employed in fruitful pursuits and each has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ! That is a lot to celebrate!!
