This September was a month of record high temperatures and also more covid outbreaks here. In our small territory there is zero tolerance for COVID-19 so when a case is detected there is a general shutdown and mass testing. Thank God the few cases detected were immediately isolated, quarantine measures were put in place and the infected persons have mild symptoms. We hope that soon daily life will normalize again, that is, students will return to school, sporting facilities open and border to the mainland returns to normal.
This month was also hampered by Jorge’s ear affliction. It started out like a case of tinnitus but later developed into something more intrusive
The doctor has said it could be an inflammation causing eustachian tube dysfunction. Jorge has taken the prescribed medication and yet the conditions persist. Out of the affliction has grown the desire to spend more time outdoors in nature as the sound of the wind and waves at the local beach help to mask the noise in Jorge’s ear. Thank you for your prayers.
We are thankful that during our times of affliction, if we draw nigh to God, He will draw nigh to us. James 4:6
On a happier note, Nuno celebrated his birthday this month over in Portugal with Cristiana and family members. We are all looking forward to the day when we can celebrate each other together at some time and place. By God’s grace it shall happen!! We wish Nuno a fantastic year to come.
Other than that, we have been in touch, through several means, with family near and far. Gloria, also in Portugal, is studying and working hard in medical school, the grandchildren are growing and learning and we are thankful that in spite of our trials, the Lord keeps us all growing.
