Swahili Bible Recordings

The narration of the Swahili Bible and the subsequent editing and preparation for up loading was one of our main tasks this months. The actual recording was concluded on the 22nd of this month. This was fruit of hundreds of hours of work by Joseph, our Swahili narrator, in the studio, and Jorge, in the office. We are happy to announce that the audio is now available online to over 100 million Swahili speakers, mainly in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Thoughts on Easter

By Benjamin Soares

It is important to remember the significance and meaning Easter holds, for Christians and others. I have noticed the culture of death is prevalent in our culture in general. Unsurprising of course, because we are all in bondage to sin and consequently death. This is a relevant theme in movies, art, and even music. Numerous people reportedly die per day, per hour, per minute, and needless to say, we all have to die some day. The passing of our loved ones is something sad and morbid. Death in itself is not something beautiful, death is a what we deserve for our sinful nature as depraved beings. That said, life is not just about living and dying. Are we here to serve our corrupting flesh, or to strive for things eternal? Jesus spoke about the second death. The death of the soul in eternity. Jesus gave us a chance to escape the second death through belief in Him. For some the discontinued beating of the heart is just the beginning of life. Yes, when our hearts stop beating, life has just begun. This point brings me to the significance of Easter. Easter should be a celebration of life, celebration of breath, of what it means to be alive on this earth. Christ died and rose to conquer death, that is to say the sting of death. If Christ had not risen, we would serve a dead savior, who had not abolished the greatest enemy of our human flesh: death.  Besides Christ painful death, and bearing the sins of the world with him, His resurrection is what is the core of the faith we now have in life eternal. Those who believe might die in this life, but have the promise of a more glorious resurrection, almost as glorious as the one Christ experienced. New bodies await us with a place of no sorrow or pain, but foremost, where death is no more. We serve a risen savior, praise the Lord.

Emergency Training

Written by Joana.

Since returning to Kenya in January I have been involved in a course to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-1). I had been looking forward to doing this for a long time and it truly is a dream come true.  My training is being provided by Avenue Hospital, which is a small but very competent health facility that contains one of the best emergency response teams in Nairobi.  Actually, Emergency Medical Systems are relatively new to Kenya.  It was only after the Nairobi bomb blasts in 1998 that the government recognized the need to invest in quality emergency personnel, as well as disaster management plans.  Hence was born Kenya Counsel of Emergency Technicians.

We serve a Risen Savior!  [Mark 16:6]

We are celebrating our second Easter season in Kenya and time passes so fast! We are all growing and learning new things all the time and are ever so thankful for all of God’s faithfulness in keeping us safe, healthy and supplied.

New Interface

The new, updated Wordproject is now available for YOUR personal use and to share with others! Check it out! Gabriel, in Macau, has invested many hours of his time to bring to us a simpler and more efficient design. The site may be seen now in several platforms, including mobile, or smartphones. This is a great step forward. On this side, we were able to finish the coding of almost 100,000 pages here in Kenya in less than one month – thanks to a fast computer prepared specially by Philip in Seattle! We thank the Lord for this new victory and all of you who have somehow contributed with support and prayers.

Your name might be found in the our appreciation note, on the site. Check if you are there. If not, let us know what we or you can do about it….!
