Audio Bibles to Africa
For the past 4 years we have been in Africa, recording narrations of the Bible and also distributing free audio Bibles to those who need them. We have distributed several models, which we import from China, but the favorite has been the S100 (see picture). This is a model that was brought to us by Timothy Tan, a developer from Singapore, who, around 2007, came to Zhuhai in China, where we lived at the time, and brought to us the first prototype, which was still being designed. The chip was conceived by Steven Patrick, a scientist from South Africa. This chip included innovative technology that allowed the device to play for an extended number of hours, actually over 200 hours, with the same set of AA batteries. We were excited from the very beginning and we used this device extensively in our own home and ministry in China before we brought it to Africa. We just found out that this model is officially out of production and will be replaced by a new model, which we have not tested but hope to do so as soon as possible.
Audio Bibles are very useful in Africa, and probably more so than in other parts of the world. Illiteracy is very high and eyesight problems are very common where eyeglasses are not only expensive but in many situations, not available. A new impetus is necessary to produce a model that is cheap enough to produce and given away to the needy field of Africa. We request your prayers for this new model being produced by Timothy and also for your financial support upcoming orders.
Recently we received the following input from a pastor in the North of Mozambique, to whom we have donated a considerable amount of audio Bibles in Swahili and Portuguese:
Audio Bibles for Mozambique
by P. Nabwera
We have been giving out audio Bibles to those in need. It has not been a careless dishing out but on the basis of interest in listening to God’s word through the audio Bibles. So far several of them have been given out. However, some of the people come back to us saying that they get spoiled after some time. Before giving out, we always tell them; “we do not want you to keep it just in your house. Please bring it back if you stop using it”
One of the persons we gave to is the wife to one of the pastors here in our time. She is involved in ministry in the local church though she does not know how to read and write. Because of this, the audio Bible was very handy for her.
One of the other persons is a mother (Mama Tere) from the Pentecostal church in Mocimboa da Praia who is very involved in ministry in this church. She has had problems with her eyes though she knows how to read and write. She cannot read for long before eyes starts to pain her. It is because of this that she benefits from listening to the audio Bible. She told me recently that she keeps it so well hiding it from the kids. She is now using the second one after the first one got spoiled. This has been a blessing not only to her but also to those she teaches in church. I have been in church while is teaching.
SAQUARTE is an immigration officer in Mocimboa da Praia. He has been a nominal Christian who is interested in God’s word. He took one of the Bibles. He went with it to where his family stays in the provincial headquarters called Pemba in the province of Cabo Delgado. One blind old man, doing ministry in the prisons heard this thing talking. He liked it so much that pleaded with Saquarte to give him. He was so happy to have it and this improved his prison ministry. He listens to it and then goes to tell the prisoners.
Saquarte took another audio Bible after losing this to the blind preacher. He again lost this but this time to his own family. One of his sons who is studying in another town took it and has been using it a lot. Saquarte says; “the audio Bible has helped me a lot, it is so good that even my family wants the Bibles. Now I do not have one as my son in Nacala took the last one I had”.
We have also used the audio Bibles for our school of missions. We gave out to the last two classes for the students to develop the discipline of hearing God’s word. And this has been a good tool to help in the entry of the word.
October mailbox
‘The harvest truly is plenteous but the labours are few…’ [Mat 9:37]. Indeed. This month of October we received the following emails calling for all kinds of actions, some we are able to respond immediately, some not. Eventually, our list grows as we are assessing the priorities for next year.
Please keep these matters and people in your prayers:
As I was searching for multilingual Bible in order to be able to read it in German, I am happy that I have found your website. I was delighted to see that you have included Bibles in so many languages, however as a Georgian I would like to kindly ask you if you can include Bible in Georgian (old and new) language as well. If you will need any kind of support to make it happen I will be more than happy to support. Yours sincerely. Guram
Respected Sir/ma’am,
The exact translation from English to Hindi is unable to make the paragraph lucid and effective enough. Could you pls reconsider translating the holy Bible in Hindi who is pro at both English and Hindi. M pretty sure lot of lecturers from Uttar Pradesh could do the justice to the translation.
Thank you. SurabiIs the Pinyin supposed to track with the Mandarin traditional-character material? If so, it doesn’t. Verse 1:2 already is off track. https://wordproject.org/bibles/pn/01/1.htm

Greetings!!
I live and serve in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I am the Father of two sons. I and my wife are full time Ministries. We all with our children worship God. I got your address from your Bibles. I am very interested in your ministry and vision.
The main mission and vision of our ministry is to preach Gospel to all creatures. Our nation’s population is about 92 million. Most of our nation peoples have not got Jesus Christ. About 40% follow Orthodox Religion, 30% follow Islamic religion, which about 20% is protestant the rest 10% are traditional Religion dwellers.
Moreover, about 600,000 Refuges coming from South Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia live in our country. Therefore, we have the vision and mission to address gospel to these refuges dwellers. Now, we kindly request you to support us the Bibles and Any Materials. For these people have no capacity to purchase it, we request you to support our congregation and the new born again Christians. I look your response forward. God bless you and your ministry! Pastor Kebede MollaSirs, I am hoping to make a Romanian-English Bible available, free, to people here in Moldova, as a key part of our ESL-Outreach. I am able to copy your online Bible in parallel windows, a chapter at a time, and will be happy to do so, but I could get the Bible into print much more quickly if you have or could provide a side-by-side text in .pdf form. Is such an option available? Thank you for your great work! You’re doing an exceptional job. God bless, David

Good evening.First of all thank you for the awesome work done in putting together WordProject. Just wanted to know if you have an API which I can use in calling the audio players to my site? Thanks. wordproject:
I used your great tool with multi function’. But now, when I click in books’ ( to choose a scriptur), it doesn t work. Can you help me? Thank you. Eva
Praise the Lord, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am so happy to see your efforts for the Kingdom of Our Lord Jesus. I just want to talk about Punjabi Audio Bible. I heard all the Bible very carefully and came to a conclusion that, whoever recorded it, they made you fool. There are thousands of word mistakenly spoken. The Bible text is saying different and recording is totally opposite to that. I don’t know, whether you checked it before putting on your website or not. I would say, It is the worst recording ever i heard. This is the Word Of Living God and those who recorded they just cheated with you. Kindly record it again, so that, Punjabi People may get blessings from it and change their lives. Thank You!!! Robert Masih.
Love what you do. The Lord has given me a passion for the 104o Window and I am trying to learn as much as I can about that region beginning with their langguages. My initial focus is Asia and in particular China, India and Indonesia. I am using your site to hardcore memorize scripture in nine langguages namely English, French (2nd. official lannguage of Canada and my wife’s mother tongue, Punjabi (my mother tongue), Hindi, Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, Bengali, Urdu and Japanese. May the Lord richly bless you and I can help in any way please contact me. Blessings. Mohny Singh
To whom it may concern: I listen to Bible readings every day in the English King James Version, it quit working when I open up the Audio and click on a book of the Bible, it use to be a pick color when I click on a Chapter, now it is gray, and won’t play but one chapter at a time, instead of showing all the chapters of the Book, it only shows a black page, with only a single line and doesn’t show anything, but the pause, a white line and when I click on the pause it will play that chapter, it doesn’t show anything else, it use to show all the chapters for that book, in a pinkish
color where it would continue on to the next chapter, it won’t do nothing now but play just the one chapter and it won’t forward to the next chapter, I need help with this, I listen and use Word Project everyday and it has been a true blessing to me. Thanks. Jimmy LewisPraise God! This is Frank from Tanzania. I’m writing to let you know how I feel blessed to be able to download the audio KJV English Bible in the very best voice that I was looking for. Long time ago, a friend gave me a DVD which had a few OT Bible audio books narrated by this man. I have since been searching online to find audio books narrated by this same man (who narrates in English KJV in your website) but I could not find. Today I searched again, landed to your site, listened to one chapter and I was so excited to hear this man’s voice narrating again.
I have just finished downloading all 66 Books today which makes me feel so
good. Audio Bibles have become so useful to me, I always play the audio while
reading the Bible software (only KJV), and by the end of this year 2015, I
will have read the Bible Genesis – Revelation 5 times.
Thank you very much and may God richly bless you and your work. Frank
Tanzania.

Online Maintenance
We continued to update some of our pages and correcting errors that were reported to us by users. Apparently, with over 70000 pages available just on Wordproject alone, there is always something that seems to be needing fixing. Our audio player, which Gabriel kindly put together, had some adjustments which hopefully will be an improvement. See here:
https://www.wordproject.org/bibles/audio/02_portuguese/b01.htm
Our Android Application keeps going strong in spite of lots of very good competition from other very nice apps available out there. We continue to have some edge on the audio Bibles department…

Online Work

I was blessed to receive a special gift for my birthday… Gabriel sent me the code and sample for a new playlist for the Audio section of Wordproject website. It comes equipped with Next and Previous buttons and a volume control. It minimizes and breaks for small screens. Since around 50% of our users are mobile users, it is a great improvement and a great blessing. Confirm:
https://www.wordproject.org/bibles/audio/01_english/b43.htm
We also worked on a new version of our Downloads page where users may download the offline version of the Bible in their own language. All links were updated.
https://www.wordproject.org/download/bibles/index.htm
In the resources page dedicated to Handell’s ‘Messiah’ we made some updating. Not many people know that this music work is based on the KJV of the Bible, where all the lyrics are unchanged Bible verses. Amongst other improvements we embedded a couple of video clips by the London Royal Orchestra.

All pages have been updated with some new navigational arrows to make navigation simpler when the user is accessing from mobile devices.
On the subject of Creation vs. Evolution, we have found a very interesting program from Creation Ministries and we added a link to our resources pages. The title of the short program is What did the Son of God believed about creation. You should not miss it, so here is the link:

July Brief News
by Donna
July kept us up and about, physically active with affairs of our estate, and spiritually desperate in discerning the will of God for our lives! We weighed out the balances of continuing our ministry in Africa, returning to China to invest more in the ministry there, or perhaps moving on to another field. As we prayed and sought His will, we were seeking signs from His Word, and practical signs as well. One verse we feel that the Lord spoke was “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. ” Phil 2:1. We believe that means He is giving us a choice as to which place we want to be physically located in order to continue our ministry in the near future. A practical sign was that our visa request was finally approved, and we are now sorting out the beaurocratic process which accompanies the said approval. (The Lord is graciously giving Jorge great patience in order to do so! ) To sum it up, we are planning to spend some time in Macau and China at the end of this year, and then return to Kenya in the beginning of 2016. In Macau we have many legal issues to solve, people to visit and precious family members to spend time with. All in all, it has been a month of prayer, redefining our goals and vision, believing that any time in prayer is bound to bring forth its fruit in its own season.
During this past month a lot of social momentum revolved around the visit of the US president to Kenya. There were some inconveniences due to traffic restriction and heavy security measures. Overall, it seems all went well and life is now back to normal.
From the Webuye orphanage we received news that some of the kids came down with malaria. Our prayers and financial assistance were much appreciated.

We are glad to report a new height in audio downloaded: 11.3 terabytes. That is equivalent to 11 million audio chapter. Also, besides the pages that were read in simple page views, there were over 59 thousand full text Bibles downloaded from the different sites and our Android application. Wordproject Android App has been downloaded almost 100 thousand time and we have around 30 thousand current users of the APP. See stats HERE. On the site, there were some corrections, some broken links and even a whole language redone because of problems with the text. The users out there are our best proofreaders as they report to us the problems they find. Someone found out that our Thai Bible contained the titles for each passage along with the verses, thus, we had to redo the entire Thai Bible text. Also, some had been requesting for the Greek New Testament audio and text in modern Greek, rather than old Greek. Therefore, we finally we able to get a hold of both and place it on the site. Check here:
https://www.wordproject.org/bibles/gk_2/index.htm (Modern Greek with New Testament audio)
And
https://www.wordproject.org/bibles/gk/index.htm (New Testament Ancient Greek (TR) with relevant audio)
Not least, Gabriel put together the code for a new audio player that let us scroll the pages while the audio remains on the top of the page. This feature has been requested by many users and we are glad to be able to offer it to them. Also, a few minor design changes were introduced this month, wherefore we had to upload the whole site, some 70 thousand pages, all over again.
Check changes here:
https://www.wordproject.org/bibles/kj/43/1.htm
Not least, we were able to introduce red letter for Jesus speaking text, in several languages, and Gloria gave us a very special contribution with her dedicated work on this.
We were glad to register wordproject growing popularity in India, where just last month our ranking raised to 46000 (from 59731). China is still a challenge and we ask for your prayers for a method to increase Bible outreach to that great nation.
