The Search

Every month we are surprised by the amount of traffic we sustain at wordproject. Mostly, what it means to us is that the Word of God is still a priority in the lives of millions of people around the world. As the world grows weary of conflict and disease, the Word still finds fertile ground in the hearts of those who are searching.

“The Search for happiness and purpose in life is more intense than ever…”

If we search Google for ‘Biblia Takatifu’ – Holy Bible in Swahili, the results will show: (click picture to enlarge)

If we search for ‘audio Bible’ in different languages, the results should show more or less as the samples below: (click picture to enlarge)

We top the list in almost all searches on that topic. We thank God for that.

This month we registered an increase in Audio Downloads in the order of 50%, to the equivalent of 6 million audio chapters downloaded: But the outreach of our online ministry goes far beyond these stats. This month alone we received several requests from application developers for permission to use both our audio and text files to develop IOS and Android apps.

As usual, we grant the permission for non-profit purposes and this is possible thanks also to you. Your support and prayers are an important part of this outreach and make it possible to continue to offer a service completely free to all mankind.

We also spend hundreds of hours optimizing the text and audio files of our own Android application, which is now updated and ready HERE – we lost our previous position because of some issues with Google Play store, but we are back with an even better app that has been receiving 5 stars rating from most reviewers —  Thank God for that.

New audio recordings

This month we were blessed with increased communication from India. We were contacted by Anil, in Chandigar, offering to record our verse section in Hindi and Punjabi. We arranged for a financial reward to help with his daughter’s education and the project went ahead. We are happy to announce that as a result we have a new verse narration of the Hindi Bible Verses Selection a sample thereof you may find  HERE and also the same for the Punjabi language, which you may find HERE. We are also honored and blessed to share the picture of Anil and his precious family, and we invite you to pray for them and also for the Word of God being heard and changing hearts in India.

Bible Recordings

by Jorge

The leprosy mission, whose work is to treat and eradicate leprosy, operates in villages all over the North of Mozambique.  Besides the medical treatment and advice, the Christian message is also necessary to encourage and bring about needed changes, namely in eliminating many social prejudices toward those with the disease. I was invited to help with the recording of Bible passages and their application in one of the native languages. I left Nairobi on the LAM flight, flew over Kilimanjaro and and in less than 2 hours I was in Pemba…

Kids Bible Club

by Donna

This month we took a break from our Kidz Bible Club since the Kenyan children had  their summer holiday and a great majority were involved in other activities. We did have a gathering which happened to fall on Jason’s birthday. There was awesome food, testimonies and prayer. We were in charge of the youth activities, and all had a good time of games and contests. Together, it was a special time of encouraging each other in Gods goodness and blessings. Football [Soccer] Fever

Christ The Redeemer Was The Unexpected Star Of The World Cup Final

Christ The Redeemer Was The Unexpected Star Of The World Cup Final

By Jorge

During this month’s Football Word Cup, besides the excitement and the drama we watched or heard about,  we were also  reminded of some of the parallels we can drawn between soccer, or football, and the spreading of the Gospel… surprised? Well, it was in Mozambique, crossing the bush last year that I thought of this. We stopped the car at a village and we started to play around with a ball. Soon,  many of the children in the village came to play too. That was easy. Well, promoting football is not hard. Just bring the ball. Now, should we not promote our club (say Manchester United or Barcelona)? Well, Club-ism or national-ism, as in the case of a World Cup, is really more a hindrance than a help in promoting a sport. In fact, ultimately it may bring more division and strife than real healthy interaction.  One should promote the sport and the joy that it brings to the people.  To play rather than to watch – the benefits are contrasting. Should we practice Christianity or just sit and watch?  With Wordproject we promote the sport (Christianity) and we bring the ball (the Bible?), and we let people have fun, rather than promoting our club (denomination), and gathering membership. We focus on the ‘practice of the sport’, so to speak…. Practicing Christianity, reading the Word – that is what brings real benefits to the people. This comparison might not apply in all its facets but we did get it when we passed through the bush of Northern Mozambique.

Cristianity in China

“In fact, Mao may have done Christianity in China the greatest possible favor. By cutting it off from foreign mission support and funding, and by removing all material incentive for joining the church, he in effect created an authentic, naturalized faith that is legitimately Chinese. ” W. Russel.

Back in 2004 we were there to experience exactly that: We were amazed to see a student’s Christian meeting  run exclusively by the young students, with no theological credentials but a sincere and heartfelt desire to praise, pray and honor the Lord Jesus. We were impressed with the spontaneous joy and contagious smiles in the faces of these young people who – in spite of the obvious adversities and the physical limitations,  organize and keep this service alive to reach out to other students in their school. An indigenous church appointed by no other but the Holy Spirit of God [Acts 1:8]. Then, reminded by the sight of the cross high on the wall, we came to understand the reason for it all, now as throughout the ages: “And I, (Jesus said) if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” [John 12:32]

Digital Ministry

We are supplying the tools to Christians in all the world to share the Gospel . Thousands of Bibles are being downloaded from our site and shared all across the continents. Here in Africa we are re-evaluating our strategies as most  people have mobile phones but only a few can afford the internet. We are working on file sharing systems and closed wifi hotspots as solution or alternative to downloading the Bible online.  Together with Konstantin, our Android app developer, we have been working on an app that we can use and pass on offline, without access to the Internet. Our main goal this month has been to make the chapters play the audio continuously, that is, one chapter change automatically to the next, so that the app can be used as an audio player. This goal has been accomplished but there are now the adjustment to be made in all the 36 languages offered in the App. Appreciate your prayers for this. [click thumbnail to enlarge image]

This month we were particularly intrigued with the peak of online traffic coming from Hong Kong. All of a sudden, for a few days, up to 30% of our traffic was coming from there. Certainly we were impressed with the interest of Hong Kong people in the Holy Bible, as that is the only thing they can get from our pages. Looking at the end of the month stats we realize that thousand of audio Bibles and text Bibles were downloaded from there. Coincidently the traffic from Macau also increased. Besides those two territories, this month we recorded increases in traffic from almost everywhere in the world, with incidence on Australia, Tanzania, South Africa and India. PTL.

Audio Bibles – Arrived

One of the highlight of this month was the arrival of 400 audio Bibles. We had to ride 2 hours through the Nairobi traffic to the industrial area where the Chinese company has the storehouse but what a blessing to have this precious tool to bless many in East Africa and Mozambique.

These devices arrived by plane and only took about 10 days since the time they were shipped from Shenzhen. This is a great effort and team work and we thank again Steven, Tim and Robin for their help in bringing the precious seed of the Word of God to this land.
