Audio Bibles
A new batch of Audio Bibles should arrive soon from China! We had the cooperation and sponsorship of Steven, in Australia. Steven is the developer/inventor of the chip that is inside the device – so special that extends battery life to over 200 hours. Also Timothy, our Singaporean brother, the main person involved in the production of this amazing device, sponsored part of the order. Robin, in Zhuhai, is helping with the shipping. In total we should receive 400 devices distributed in two languages: Portuguese, aiming Portuguese speaking Mozambique, and Swahili for Kenya and Tanzania. This should be a great blessing in broadcasting the Word of God ti this part of Africa. Thank you to all our partners.

Rural Kenya and Nyeri
by Donna
We took a drive to Nyeri, at the foothills of Mt. Kenya. Unfortunately, it the mountain was covered in clouds all day. However, we did visit the Baden Powell museum at the “Outspan.”. B. Powell was the founder of the Boy Scouts, who spent the last years of his life here in the area. This location is right next to “Treetops”, the place where Queen Elizabeth was staying when she received the news that her father had died and that she was the Queen of England. … [click pictures to enlarge]

It was nice to be out of the city, and back into the greenery of rural Kenya, where life is abundant and you can find good fruits and vegetable for a very reasonable price. We bought as much as we could. [click picture to enlarge]

Bible Study
by Donna
Our Bible study group is growing and prospering, so much so, that we’ve had to divide into smaller groups in order to facilitate hosting and discussion. We are studying a book entitled “Jesus on Leadership’ Becoming a Servant Leader”. As we also study the gospel accounts of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and His betrayal, trial and crucifixion, we also see Him as the suffering servant who came not to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45 His incredible love for us was so intense that it led Him to lay down His life for us.
The Kids Bible Club has increased in number as well, and we are so encouraged that many show up at 7:30 on Saturday morning, even in the pouring rain!! I guess we, as adults, forgot how fun it is to slosh through the rain and puddles and chilly wind at daybreak. :)) (we would have much preferred to stay in bed). But the word is out and we are on duty, rain or shine, and what fun it has been. Once, the question was posed,”Is Jesus still in the grave?”. Most did not answer. Some responded, “No”. Next question,” So, where is He now?'” Answers ranged between : in the church, the mosque, school, the Bible, everywhere, Jerusalem, I don’t know, etc. This led us into a lesson on the beauties and realities of Heaven! These kids are a joy to teach! In their honesty and simplicity, many are coming to understand God’s plan for salvation revealed through His Word, the Bible.

Shanghai Church
by Emanuel
This Chinese New Year, for our Sunday service Mandy and I visited the old Methodist church (Mu En Tang) located on the intersection of XiZhang road and JiuZhou road in Shanghai. Mandy had been several times before, but it would be a first time for me. Shanghai at this time of year is the usual hustle and bustle you find in the urban centers of China, duly amplified to accommodate the passing of the Chinese New Year. This is the central shopping district of one of the most populated cities on the planet, teeming with life. Everyone out in their New Year’s best for shopping, and with no lack of options either… hawkers of all trades vying to sell their wares outside the doors of the dozens of gigantic shopping malls which grace Shanghai’s central district. Inside label brands from every corner of the world are engaged in an even fiercer competition for the consumer’s heart and mind.

Kids Bible Club
Written by Donna
Our Kids Bible Club has practically doubled in size and we were 30 last Saturday morning! We are studying the Books of Samuel and the lives of Samuel, Saul and David as there is much we can learn from their life choices and attitudes. The Adult Bible study took a break over the Holiday season, but we are meeting again with our emphasis being on prayer and spiritual warfare. Isaiah 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. Matthew 21:13: “And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer”.
